RABEPRAZOLE - ORAL (rabb-EH-pruh-zole)

Aciphex

USES:
ACIPHEX is used to treat ulcers, certain types of heartburn (GERD), as well as uncommon diseases of excess stomach acid (Zollinger-Ellison Syndrome).

HOW TO USE ACIPHEX:
Take ACIPHEX by mouth, generally once daily, or as directed by your doctor. The dosage and length of treatment depend on your condition and response to therapy. Swallow the medicine whole. Do not chew, crush or split it, as this may decrease the effectiveness of the drug.

SIDE EFFECTS:
Nausea, stomach upset, diarrhea, constipation or headache may occur. If any of these effects persist or worsen, notify your doctor promptly. An allergic reaction to ACIPHEX is unlikely, but seek immediate medical attention if it occurs. Symptoms of an allergic reaction include:
rash, itching, swelling, dizziness, trouble breathing. If you notice other effects not listed above, contact your doctor or pharmacist.

PRECAUTIONS:
Tell your doctor your medical history, especially of:
allergies, liver disease. Tell your doctor if you are pregnant before using this medication. It is not known whether ACIPHEX is passed into breast milk. Because of the potential risk to the infant, breast-feeding while using ACIPHEX is not recommended. Consult your doctor before breast-feeding.

DRUG INTERACTIONS:
Tell your doctor of all prescription and nonprescription medication you may use, especially of:
digoxin, ketoconazole, itraconazole, antibiotics (e.g., ampicillin), iron supplements. Do not start or stop any medicine without doctor or pharmacist approval.

OVERDOSE:
If overdose is suspected, contact your local poison control center or emergency room immediately.

NOTES:
Do not share ACIPHEX with others.

MISSED DOSE:
If you miss a dose, use it as soon as you remember. If it is near the time of the next dose, skip the missed dose and resume your usual dosing schedule. Do not double the dose to catch up.

STORAGE:
Store at room temperature between 59 and 86 degrees F (15 to 30 degrees C) away from light and moisture.
